Learn-to-Skate / Bunny Program

Learn-to-Skate (LTS)

The Learn to Skate Program is designed to teach young children 4 years and older skating skills. Children in this program start as non - skaters or have very basic skating skills. Participants will learn about balance striding, stopping, turns and falling. As their skating skills improve they will learn some basic fundamentals of ringette. At the end of the program participants will be ready to proceed to the Bunny Program or to Novice House League.

For the Learn-to-Skate Program, participants require only basic safety equipment (see equipment).

The program is lead by experienced instructors with support from some of our teenage players.

Full season LTS runs as one continious session from September 2007 to March 2008 with a fee of $160 per child. Besides the more than twenty 45 minute sessions, the fee includes a jersey, photo, trophy and a ticket to the year-end banquet.

A Winter LTS Program is offered in January and February. Contact Darlene Davies- president@etobicoke-ringette.com for more information.

Bunny Program

The Bunny Program is offered to children between 5 and 8 years of age who have some skating ability. The program runs from September to March.

The program is oriented to children who are interested in learning ringette skills, improving skating skills and playing ringette games. Even though improving skating skills will be the focus of the program, participants will use sticks and learn ring handling, shooting and passing. Basic ringette games will be introduced as the season progresses. Near the end of the season participants will have the opportunity to play other bunny teams.

Participants are required to wear full ringette equipment from the beginning of the season.

By the end of the program participants will be ready to proceed to teams in the Novice house league.
