Etobicoke Ringette activities are suspended until January 10th due to Toronto being in Lockdown and Ringette Ontario's 2 week hiatus mandate.

Ringette Ontario has suspended all ringette activities from December 24th – January 10
th, 2021 as they believe there is a heightened risk given the holidays and the potential of increased social gatherings. By keeping ringette on hold for an additional week after kids return to school, they believe they are acting in the best interest to protect their members from further risk of community spread.

While City of Toronto outdoor rinks will be opening in the coming weeks, ice times will be primarily reserved for the City to offer their own programming or leisure skates. If you are interested, here is a link to the City website for you and your family to get out for a skate or join a program.

It’s still too soon to advise on our exact plans post January 10th, as we need to wait for a decision regarding Toronto’s restrictions and whether we will remain in lockdown, move back to Red restrictions or otherwise. We are committed to continuing our activities once it is permitted to do so, safely. As we learn more, we will continue to keep everyone informed.

November 20, 2020

Today, Premier Ford has announced that Toronto will be in a state of Lockdown as of Monday.

However, out of an abundance of caution, and for the safety of all players, coaches and their families, the ERA has decided to cancel all sanctioned activities effective today, November 20th. As such, all programming scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled and will be updated in TeamSnap.

We will remain diligent in working with the City of Toronto and will advise everyone of our plans as it relates to the balance of our season. For now, we’ve met and made a decision regarding the immediate next steps and will need to monitor the weeks ahead.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Please keep your families safe,

If you've been watching the news, you know that there have been some new and increased restrictions announced by the Government recently which may leave you wondering how those impact our programming.  Your Executive team is closely monitoring the news as well, however at this time we have received no direction from the City of Toronto or Ringette Ontario to reduce, modify or cancel our activities.  As such, ERA activities remain a "GO", and we will continue to enforce our physical distancing and mask wearing rules. Should you have any concerns, do not hesitate to discuss them with the executive or your coaches.

As we continue to navigate the COVID reality, here are some thoughts for you to consider with your players:

1) The COVID Health Assessment you complete before each activity is very important.  Please complete these accurately and honestly every time.  If you are feeling unwell or have any doubts, then PLEASE STAY HOME.

2) All players and parents must follow our physical distancing and mask wearing rules. As a reminder, masks are required in all arenas, will be worn by coaches at all times.  Players may also choose to wear a mask under their helmets while on the ice, or during outdoor activities. If parents are gathering outside during practices, it is recommended that you also wear a mask and remain 2m apart.

As new information is announced, or if any changes are required to our programming, the Executive will make announcements via TeamSnap. For now, we continue to operate as-is and appreciate your cooperation and support. We're all navigating this together.

ERA youth activities will resume on October 17th.  Our Learn-to-Skate/Play and Adult House League programs are suspended at least until January.

Below is an update on what our programming will look like at least until November 6th as per the City/Provincial latest guidelines:

  • There is a maximum of 10 people allowed inside the facility
  • We will aim to have 8 players on the ice with 2 coaches for a total of 10 people
  • There will be no spectators allowed inside the arena
  • Rink Monitors will confirm player health checks outside the arena (or in advance from the TeamSnap app)
  • A female adult will be nearby the rink and available, should coaches need additional assistance to tend to a player for injury or any other reason
  • Squads will be split into mini squads to adhere to the new capacity limits
  • Players must come to the arena fully dressed, preferably wearing skates, (or be able to tie laces independently) as there are no parents allowed inside the arena in accordance to the 10 person maximum, and change rooms will not be available
  • Players should have a pair of hard plastic skate guards if skates are being worn outdoors
  • Face masks are still required once inside the arena and will only be removed by players when putting their helmets on (coaches will wear masks at all times)

At this time, each mini-squad will be on the ice for 1 hour per week.  Ice times will be Saturday evenings, Sunday afternoons, Monday and Wednesday evenings.

You must RSVP to an event no later than 48 hours prior to the scheduled event.  Empty spots will be backfilled with players from your squad.  If you find out you are not able to attend within 48 hours of the event notify your coach to give your coach the opportunity to fill the spot with another player so that we maximize the use of the ice.
