RINGETTE ASSOCIATION |
- We
provide an opportunity for girls and young women to play the ice sport of ringette
in
west Toronto (Etobicoke). Rep teams travel outside the Toronto
area, throughout Southern Ontario.
- Skating
is emphasized as is fitness, coordination, judgment, teamwork, positional play
and sportsmanship. Great opportunity for girls to have fun and stay fit.
Ringette
is an alternative ice sport to hockey. Some of our members play both ringette
and hockey, but they typically find ringette a faster, more team-oriented skating
sport in comparison. Unlike hockey, body checking is prohibited. Ringette
equipment also differs slightly from hockey gear. Interested? Read
more about the sport of ringette and how it differs from hockey.
Skating
lessons are offered for young children (both girls and boys) in our
learn-to-skate program. -
These
skating lessons form an excellent foundation to support later play in either ringette
or hockey, or both. -
Skating
skills progress through the season, followed by stick-handling lessons. Programs
run in west Toronto from September to April, with an annual summer
camp held at Lakeshore Lions Arena, Toronto, in late August. Non-profit
volunteer sports organization founded in 1967.
