Minor Officials

Thank you!

Thank you for being a minor official for Etobicoke Ringette! Your support is vital to the teams so that we can host our home games.

See below for information about the different minor official roles. Remember that minor officials should refrain (as much as possible) from cheering for one side since they are minor officials and should be impartial.

Scoreboard

The scoreboard minor official is responsible for maintaining the scoreboard during the game.

Here are instructions for the Etobicoke home game rinks:

RAMP Game Sheets

The game sheet minor official is responsible for inputting the game information into the RAMP game sheets app during the game.

Click for RAMP Game Sheet Instructions.

The goal is to fill in the RAMP Game Sheet in real-time during the game, but it can be challenging to input all the information as the referee says it and the game play happens. That is why it is also useful to have a paper and pen to record the game information as it occurs. This Temporary Game Sheet can be used to quickly record the information as it happens, and then it can be transferred into the app once play resumes.

Two important notes:

  1. Only a 7-goal differential (max) should be posted as the final game score. You can edit the score in the app before it is posted. All the individual goals/assists/penalties will still appear on the detailed game sheet, but the edited final game score should only show a maximum of a 7-goal differential.
  2. Be sure that the "Game Completed" button is selected at the end of the game. Unless that button is clicked, RAMP thinks the game is still being played. The team standings do NOT get updated on the LORL website until that button is selected.

Shot Clock Operator

The shot clock operator minor official is responsible for resetting the shot clock during the game.

The basic instructions for resetting the shot clock can be found in our Shot Clock Basics.

The shot clock operator must be able to see the play anywhere on the ice (usually in a penalty box or in the timekeeper's box). It is important that they focus on the ring during the game, as the reset may be required at any time.

REMEMBER - IF IN DOUBT, DO NOT RESET. The referee will signal you to reset.

For more information, see these Detailed Shot Clock Operator Instructions.
